Takamine Wood sawmill and timber

Commitment to the Environment and Quality

At Takamine Wood, we place great importance on both environmental responsibility and high product quality at every stage— from raw materials to manufacturing, and finally to delivery.

The trees we use were planted by earlier generations 50 to 60 years ago. We value these forest resources and use them responsibly, without waste. The timber industry is a circular industry by nature, and we are committed to continuing practices that are gentle on the planet.

Use of Legally Harvested Timber

Takamine Wood uses only legally harvested timber as raw material.

“Legally harvested timber” refers to wood and wood products whose legality has been verified in accordance with Japan’s guidelines for proving legality and sustainability of timber and wood products.

Illegal logging still occurs in many parts of the world and remains a major cause of deforestation and environmental degradation. Choosing legally harvested timber is essential to protecting the global environment.

Association Certification No.: Miyazaki Timber Association No. 131

Reliability as a JAS-Certified Mill

Takamine Wood’s sawmill is certified under JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standards).

Under Japan’s Building Standards Act, materials used for critical structural components of buildings must meet either JIS or JAS quality standards. For timber products, JAS certification plays a particularly important role.

Our mill meets strict requirements, including:

  • The ability to produce high-quality products consistently
  • Manufacturing facilities and quality control systems that meet prescribed standards

Only mills that satisfy these conditions are permitted to manufacture products bearing the JAS mark. Takamine Wood undergoes regular inspections and continues to maintain these standards to ensure reliable quality.
